EMR ANALYST
Position Summary: Preferred Primary Care Physicians, an independently
owned internal and family medicine group in Pittsburgh, PA, is now
accepting applications for the position of The Electronic Medical
Record (EMR) Analyst. The EMR Analyst will be a key figure in implementing,
maintaining and supporting GE Healthcare’s Centricity EMR.
This person will work directly with information systems and quality
improvement staff to improve training, usage and administration
of the EMR. Clinic visitation is a key responsibility of this position.
Observation and analysis of EMR usage will help facilitate improvements
in workflow and system performance. Local travel 25%-50% with potential
for regional travel in future. Relocation is required.
Position Responsibilities:
• Participate in the implementation of the electronic medical
record in new practices as project manager, trainer, and on-site
coordinator.
• Provide written status reports on practices before and after
go-live
• Develops and maintains training documentation that will
include information customized for each practice. Train new users
and maintain ongoing training program for existing users.
• Work closely with physicians and office staff to analyze
and document workflow, identify areas for improvement, and outline
a plan to introduce these improvements.
• Write and run reports using the EMR report module and Crystal
Reports.
• Work with EMR committee to develop and create clinical forms
for use in the EMR using a standard enhancement process. Collect
enhancement requests from users, advise committee on these requests,
and see the enhancement through to implementation following the
standard enhancement process.
• Apply monthly clinical updates as they are released and
maintain clinical custom lists in the EMR following these updates
• Monitor and track electronic prescriptions and troubleshoot
issues with clinic, e-Rx vendor, and pharmacies as necessary
• Work with Information Systems staff to outline a rollout
plan for service pack applications and software upgrades that includes
the installation in a test environment followed by installation
in the production environment.
• Advise IS department on the potential effects that software
changes, software updates, and hardware upgrades could have on the
EMR.
• Participate in interface projects with outside facilities.
Resolves interface errors.
• Keep up-to-date on third party applications and devices
that integrate and communicate with the EMR
• Work with vendors for support or enhancements
• Maintain existing EMR policies and procedures. Develop and
implement new policies and procedures as needed.
Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management,
Information Systems or other relative to clinical informatics or
equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.
• Minimum of three years of direct, hands-on experience with
an ambulatory electronic medical record. Centricity EMR experience
preferred but not required.
• Experience working in a healthcare setting – ambulatory
clinic, hospital or health system – is required. Knowledge
of clinical workflow and a basic understanding of clinical terminology
also required.
• Minimum of two years of delivering formal, instructor-led
training.
• Experience with software implementation and support, healthcare-related
or other, is required.
• Project management experience is preferred
• Excellent oral and written skills are required. Must show
demonstrated ability to interact successfully with clients in prior
work experience.
• Experience writing and running reports preferred
• Experience with HL7 is a plus
